Each week, we spotlight a cool innovation recommended by some of the industry's top tech writers. This week's pick is a phone with 3-D photo capabilities.

The holographic phone of our futuristic dreams may finally be arriving, said Jessica Conditt at Engadget. The RED Hydrogen One is supposed to hit stores Nov. 2. The phone's design combines a 3-D screen, built by a company called Leia, with a dual camera that lets users take 3-D images and videos. RED, known for its cinema cameras, calls the holographic views 4V. The holographic images, which require no special glasses, don't pop out of the phone, but create a sense of depth within the screen.
