Beer: Summer quaffs
Forget the beer milkshakes and triple IPAs that were all the rage last summer, said Kate Krader in Bloomberg.com. For 2017, craft brewers have “swung in the opposite direction,” opting for “quaffable, easy-drinking” recipes that are “low enough in alcohol to keep you from falling down in the middle of the afternoon.” Here are three to seek out.
Dogfish Head Brewery Seaquench AleThis low-carb, low-calorie concoction, made with lime and sea salt, is “the most thirst-quenching beer that Dogfish has ever brewed.”
Klosterbrauerei Andechs Andechser HefeweizenIn Belgium, even chil dren drink “table beers” like this low-alcohol hefeweizen, which has a pillowy mouthfeel and a banana aroma.
Carlton Brewing Beach Ale This session ale made with orange zest and three hops is a throwback to the low-alcohol beers British laborers were once allowed to drink during work hours. ■
