CNN's Alisyn Camerota goes off on 'schizophrenic' Fox News over Sean Hannity's rallying with Trump
Fox News host Sean Hannity appeared on stage at President Trump's final pre-midterms campaign rally in Missouri on Monday night, after he said he wouldn't campaign with Trump and the Trump campaign said he would. CNN's Alisyn Camerota, who used to work at Fox News, wasn't buying Hannity's expression of surprise when Trump called him up to the mic. "Who does he think he's fooling by saying he had no idea he was going to be invited up there?" she asked on Tuesday's New Day.
"And here's what's going on at Fox: They know, vaguely, that they're not supposed to have one of their hosts endorse a candidate or a party," Camerota said. "They're having a schizophrenic moment trying to figure out what their role is supposed to be with the Trump presidency." She tried to find an analogy. "Can you imagine Don Lemon campaigning for Stacey Abrams," the Democratic candidate in Georgia's gubernatorial race, Camerota asked. "Don Lemon being able to take the podium? I mean, when people say there's no difference, and when Fox tries to consider itself a news organization, they have some complications at moments like this."
No one on the New Day panel could imagine Don Lemon getting away with stumping for a Democrat.
